The Latest News from the IAEE Midwestern Chapter

IAEE Midwest Chapter Chair - Brent Linkin

Hello, Midwestern Chapter!

Now that our Midwestern summer days are quickly becoming a mere memory, I'd like to encourage everyone to embrace the busy Fall days ahead of us.  For the past three quarters of this year, your Board of Directors, committee members and all of our volunteers at the IAEE Midwestern Chapter have been working tirelessly to improve upon membership engagement, look for additional opportunities to connect with our members outside the Chicagoland area and provide unique educational experiences.  We encourage you ALL to provide any feedback on how we can better serve you and our local community.  There are numerous opportunities for improvement as well as volunteer positions within one of our committees.

I'd like to highlight a few of our activations this past quarter:

June 13 -  Education Program and Network Reception sponsored by the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center and Hotel and Meet Chicago Northwest

August 3 - our first ever Idea Sharing Conference Call lead by Gretchen Liedl and Tricia Mallett discussing Logo usage, sanctions / penalties, presentation and other impromptu topics.

August 27 - 29th Annual golf outing at Cantigny

August 28 -  Minnesota Member Meetup at Finnegan's Brew Co
Milwaukee Member Meetup at the D14 Brewery & Pub

We look forward to seeing you at our Annual Meeting taking place on Thursday, September 27 featuring a special guest appearance providing us with some Industry updates and insights by our IAEE President & CEO, David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA.  The education topic, Your Events Will Never Be the Same: Hot Technologies 2019 will be provided by James Spellos, CMP President of Meeting U. Please note that we moved locations. As industry professionals, we are always on point and need to respond to anything that may come our way and adjust seamlessly. Therefore, the Annual Meeting has moved from Maggiano's to Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab on the corner of Grand & Rush.

I am very pleased to recognize our 2018 VOLUNTEER of the YEAR recipient Jennifer Gallatin, International Marketing Coordinator, Association of Equipment Manufacturers and a very active member of our Membership Engagement Committee.  Congratulations Jennifer!

Thank you and I wish you all a very successful Fall!
Brent

Student Outreach!!

From resume workshops to student "shadow" dates, our YP team has done a tremendous job at working with students in the past. With so many universities in the Midwestern Chapter, we are working to roll out a new protocol for Student Outreach and we are hoping to open it up to anyone wishing to get involved. Our goal is to create a team of "Relationship Managers" to stay in contact with 1-2 universities throughout the upcoming school year. This role is open to anyone- not just our YP's! Your role would be to establish a relationship with the university and assist in scheduling:

  • Resume workshops (via email or in-person)
  • Classroom Q&A's
  • Office tours or invitations to IAEE chapter events

If you currently have a good relationship with a university - be it alumni, parent, or friend - please reach out to Paige Anne at either [email protected] or 312-597-0371 to get involved. It is so important to engage with students and promote our industry, and it will take all hands on deck to make our efforts a success! Looking forward to working with you!

Thank you to our Chapter Sponsors!
